Day 1: Cusco – Capuliyoc – Chiquisqa (Descent into the Canyon)
Our adventure begins with an early morning departure from Cusco, driving towards the trailhead at Capuliyoc Pass. Here, we are greeted by the immense Apurimac Canyon.
The day’s challenge is a demanding, multi-hour descent that tests our endurance but rewards us with ever-changing landscapes as we make our way to our first campsite in the canyon’s depths.
Day 1 Statistics

Day 2: Chiquisqa – Marampata – Choquequirao (The Great Ascent)
Today is the ultimate test of the Choquequirao Trek 4 Days. We start by crossing the roaring Apurimac River and then begin a grueling, zigzagging ascent towards Marampata. This relentless climb is the price of admission to the lost city.
Each step brings us closer, pushing our limits until we reach our campsite, located just at the gates of the ancient citadel.
Day 2 Statistics
- Lowest Altitude: 1,550 m / 5,085 ft (Playa Rosalina)
- Highest Altitude: 2,900 m / 9,514 ft (Choquequirao Camp)

Day 3: Choquequirao – Chiquisqa (Exploring the Citadel)
With the hardest climb behind us, we wake at dawn to explore the magnificent Choquequirao. You will enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of the main plazas, ceremonial centers, and the incredible llama terraces etched into the mountainside.
After immersing ourselves in history, we begin our journey back, descending once again into the canyon to our final campsite.

- Campsite Altitude: 1,930 m / 6,332 ft (Chiquisqa)
- Trekking Distance: Approx. 15 km / 9.3 miles

Day 4: Chiquisqa – Capuliyoc – Cusco (Return to Civilization)
On our final day, we tackle the last great ascent, climbing out of the Apurimac Canyon back to Capuliyoc Pass. This final push is a testament to the strength we’ve built over the past days.
At the top, our private transport awaits to take us back to Cusco, filled with a profound sense of accomplishment.
