Your day starts bright and early — around 4:00 AM, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. Yes, it’s an early wake-up call, but totally worth it. As we leave the city behind, you’ll watch the sunrise over the Andes, passing quiet villages and scenic mountain valleys. We’ll make a stop along the way to enjoy a light breakfast at a local restaurant — just what you need to fuel up before the adventure begins. From the very start, you’ll feel like you’re heading into something special, far from the typical tourist route.
After breakfast, we arrive at the ATV base camp, where your guide will gear you up with a helmet and gloves and give a brief safety orientation. No worries if you’ve never ridden an ATV before — they’re fully automatic and easy to handle. Once everyone’s ready, the fun begins. The ATV ride to Rainbow Mountain takes you along remote trails surrounded by wide valleys, rolling hills, and, if the sky is clear, stunning views of the Ausangate Glacier, the tallest mountain in the Cusco region. The ride itself is exciting but smooth — ideal for adventure seekers of all levels.
After riding for about 45 to 60 minutes, we reach the closest parking area to the mountain. From here, it’s a short 45-minute hike to the famous Rainbow Mountain viewpoint — or, if you prefer, you can hire a horse from local residents. As you reach the top, prepare to be amazed: the vibrant natural colors of Vinicunca stretch out before you like something out of a dream. You’ll have time to take photos, catch your breath, and learn from your guide about how this colorful mountain formed and why it holds cultural significance for local communities.
Once we’ve taken it all in, we head back to the base camp by ATV, sometimes taking a slightly different route for new scenery. Around 1:00 PM, we’ll stop for a well-deserved traditional lunch at a local restaurant — a perfect way to wrap up the experience. After that, we begin our drive back to Cusco, arriving around 4:00 PM, just in time to relax, grab a coffee, or continue exploring the city.
