Day 1: Colca Canyon Tour.
Colca Canyon Tour.
To start at 2:30 and 3:00 am we begin with pick up from your hotel, after that leave Arequipa and go to the Colca Canyon towards the Chachani snow-capped mountain and Chivay.
After breakfast in Chivay we will go to the Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor (3,500 masl), where we will appreciate the flight of the condors, as well as the best panoramic view of the Canyon, with its depth of 1,200 meters, from the viewpoint to the river.
Cross of the Condor
First we will stay a few hours at Cruz del Cóndor , later we will pass through the town of Pinchollo, known for being the most characteristic town in the valley. Later we will appreciate the views of pre-Inca hanging tombs on vertical cliffs, for being the most outstanding stone scale model of the Colca Valley. Later on the way we will stop at the Mirador Antahuilque. After that we continue through the towns of Maca, Achoma and Yanque, with its monumental baroque style church.
La Calera thermal baths
Later in the afternoon we will arrive in Chivay, where we will optionally visit the Medicinal Thermal Baths ‘La Calera’. Afterwards we will have lunch, and later we will return to the White City of Arequipa. Along the way we will have stops in Patapampa or the Mirador de los Andes, Alto Sumbay and the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, which is the habitat of the four species of South American camelids. Above all, the most important one, the vicuña.
Finally we will return to Arequipa with arrival at approximately 5:00 pm
