Tips for doing the Inca Jungle 3 days.
When you come to Cusco, you should know that Cusco has a temperate climate with year-round temperatures fluctuating between 14 – 35°C, with warm nights on some days. Cusco has a rainy season, which is from December to March. Machu Picchu has a semi-tropical climate, being a jungle, with warm, humid days and cold nights. The rainy season in Machu Picchu is from November to March, so be prepared to get soaked and road conditions are slippery.
- Before leaving on this trip, it is necessary to exercise for almost 1 hour, walking around the house, or doing something similar.
- The best months to do Inca Jungle and visit Machu Picchu are from April to October.
- The high season is from June to August, because in June the Inti Raymi Festival is celebrated, and Cusco celebrates its anniversary, and in June, almost the entire month there are many festivities in the streets.
- We recommend booking in advance, because if you want to climb Huayna Picchu, there are only 400 spaces available. First shift 200 places from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM and the second and recommended 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. This time the sky and Machu Picchu are clear.
- Altitude sickness is serious and can ruin your trip. The biggest mistake you can make is to fly directly to Cusco (3326m/10,910ft) and wait to hike the next day. You need to give yourself a few days to adjust to the altitude.
- Tap water in Peru is safe to drink, but it is not recommended to drink it straight from the tap, so do not drink it. You should boil the water for a full five minutes or drink bottled water. However, you can brush your teeth with tap water without any problems for your stomach.
- At any time of year, the weather in Machu Picchu can change in an instant. Be prepared with a light raincoat just in case.
- Make sure to get your passport stamped with the Machu Picchu stamp. There is a small office just after the entrance where you can do this.
- Only small backpacks of less than 20kg are allowed into Machu Picchu. There is a storage office just after the main entrance that charges 3 soles (US$1) to store your stuff for the day.
- To the left of the entrance to Machu Picchu there is a pharmacy and a medical service available. The service is operated by the Pardo y San José Clinic (from Cusco).
- If you are afraid of heights, it is not recommended to climb Huayna Picchu. At the top, the path is very narrow and very steep.
