Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca
This day we will begin our adventure towards the Inca city of Choquequirao, the Aremika Travel team will pick you up at your hotel and then board the bus that will take us from Cusco through beautiful inter-Andean valleys to the town of Cachora where we will begin our walk, this day we will arrive at the Capuliyoc viewpoint where we will have a magnificent view of the Apurímac canyon, after this impressive view we will continue our walk until we reach Chiquisca, the place of our first camp.

Day 2: Chiquisca – Rosalina Beach – Santa Rosa – Marampata
We start the day with a good breakfast. Then we will begin our walk towards Rosalina Beach and from this point we will ascend to Santa Rosa where we will have a short break and taste the “Cambio” drink made from sugar cane. Then we will continue ascending until we reach Marampata, our second campsite. Where a delicious dinner prepared by our cook awaits us.

Day 3: Marampata – Choquequirao
After a comforting breakfast, this day we will be able to visit Choquequirao and its wonders. Together with our guide we will visit most of the tourist attractions of Choquequirao, our guide will explain the history of Choquequirao, as well as the most important places of this majestic archaeological complex. After that, after having a whole day visiting Choquequirao, we will return to the camp where we will have our camp.
Accommodation: Camp, Pinchiunuyoc 2600m.
Weather: Warm, windy and cold at night.
Hiking time : 7 hours.
Day 4: Choquequirao – Rosalina Beach – Chiquisqa
After our nutritious breakfast, we will begin the return journey, taking with us the best of Choquequirao until we reach Playa Rosalina, where a delicious lunch will await us and we will take a short break to replenish our energy. We will continue our walk back to Chiquisqa where our last camp awaits us, accompanied by dinner, and we will be able to rest until the next day.

Day 5: Chiquisqa – Capuliyoc – Cachora – Cusco
After our last breakfast, we will begin the hike up to Capuliyoc again, from where we will be able to appreciate a prodigious view of the Apurímac canyon, Nevado Padreyoc. After 2 hours of hiking, we will say goodbye to our muleteers and board the bus back to Cusco to finish our service.

Recommendations for Choquequirao Trek 5 days
What you have to take into account for the trip, remember that this trip is a mountaineering tour where we will be away from the city and most of the basic services:
- A light backpack with a change of clothes for the entire period of the hike – be prepared for a wide range of temperature changes.
- Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho. Plastic ponchos can be purchased for about $1 in Cusco.
- Sturdy footwear, waterproof hiking boots are recommended. Extra socks are a must.
- Plastic sandals or flip-flops are also good to allow your feet to breathe at night, if you wish to wear them.
- Warm clothing, including jacket, fleece, gloves and scarf.
- Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping.
- It is hot in the Apurímac Canyon, so you should also be prepared for hot conditions on this hike.
- Sleeping bag (we can rent it)
- Flashlight and spare battery
- Camera, film and batteries (batteries are consumed more quickly in cold conditions).
- Hat or cap to protect from the sun, rain and cold

Inca Period (1438-1534)
It was considered a cultural and religious center of the region. It is presumed that this city was used as a control center to protect access to the Vilcabamba Valley, which connected with the main cities of the Sacred Valley of Cusco such as Pisaq, Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu.
Transition Period (1534-1572)
Choquequirao is presumed to have been one of the last bastions of Inca resistance, where many of the Incas sought refuge, who by order of Manco Inca abandoned the city of Cusco for Vilcabamba. Around 1535 when Cusco was besieged by the Spanish, Manco Inca and the other Incas of Vilcabamba resisted the Spanish until the execution of Tupac Amaru I in 1572.
Colonial era
The Spaniard Juan Arias Dias Topete in the year 1710, was the one who gives news about the citadel called “Chuquiquirau”, the first review makes reference to the year 1768 written by Cosme Bueno. In 1790 Pablo Jose Origain mentions in his work “Compendium of Geographic News of Cuzco” a depopulated city.
