The measure comes after the improvements observed in the COVID-19 infection figures, especially in the city of Lima, said Mincetur.
The Government will no longer require a negative result of a molecular test or PCR test as a requirement to travel to any national destination in order to reactivate domestic tourism, announced the head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Claudia Cornejo.
“For domestic flights, this PCR test will also be suspended in order to return to what we had before”, announced the minister during a working visit to Tumbes.
The measure follows the improvements observed in the COVID-19 infection figures, especially in the city of Lima.
Cornejo also revealed that, in the case of international flights, the Council of Ministers approved the elimination of the mandatory 14-day quarantine for all those visiting the country from abroad, but the PCR test requirement will be maintained.
“In the case of the quarantine that was being requested for those travelers coming from abroad, this will be suspended and we will return to the way we had in December: that people coming from abroad only enter with their PCR test to be able to enter our country”, he commented.
“This will probably be announced in greater detail by the Premier and the Minister of Transportation tomorrow”, he pointed out.
