How to Buy Machu Picchu Tickets: Step-by-Step Guide for 2025

admin September 19, 2025

One of the most important tasks when planning your trip is securing your entrance tickets to the Machu Picchu Archaeological Site. Entry is limited to 4,300 people per day at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, and tickets sell out quickly, especially during peak season (June to August). Children under 8 enter for free, and those under 18 pay the student rate with a valid ISIC card.

As soon as you know your travel date, book your tickets to avoid disappointment.

📝 How to Buy Machu Picchu Tickets

1. Book Online

Visit the official ticket website: Click the Union Jack flag in the top right corner to switch to English. Note: The site can be unreliable, and purchasing online may be difficult or temporarily unavailable.

2. Buy in Person in Cusco

Go to the Regional Directorate of Culture office with your passport: Address: Avenida de la Cultura 238, Condominio Huáscar, Cusco Hours: Monday to Saturday, 7:15 AM to 6:30 PM. Closed Sundays and holidays. This option is riskier during high season when tickets are scarce.

3. Book Through a Tour Operator

Many agencies offer ticket packages and guided tours. This is often the easiest and most reliable method.
